Violence

Some would claim that the world's oldest profession is prostitution. Others would argue that even before there were prostitutes, there were soldiers. Humans have always fought. Man vs man, man vs woman, man vs animal, tribe vs tribe, nation vs nation, insurgent vs government, etc.

Sometimes violence is seen as sport, such as (American) football or boxing. Other times it is seen as a crime such as assault, rape, and murder. Sometimes violence is socially acceptable, or even encouraged like in times of war.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines violence as "Injury inflicted by deliberate means", which includes assault, as well as "legal intervention and self harm". (Wikipedia).
