In this body of work, "Celdas", I use absurdity to address a very serious issue;
the problem of violence in Honduras, and its consequences upon its citizens. The
economic and social situation in Honduras have led youngsters to immigrating to
the U.S. and joining gangs; eventually getting deported bringing "gangster"
culture back to their homeland. Gang related crimes; especially have become a
major problem in the country. By taking photographs of installations I construct,
to mimic Honduran living spaces, I try to recreate my perception of what
Honduran culture has turned into now, just like "American Culture" is being
distorted by this new generation of youngsters in their country. By bringing
outdoors activities indoors, I try to address the voluntary reclusion to which
citizens have objected themselves to, by such situation, for fear of their safety.
