Currently, I’m exploring the geometry and abstract reflections in my series of acrylic paintings called “I DO Know Jack!” I use the ubiquitous toy chrome jack placed in unusual settings and scales coupled with a play on words for each title. The modern metal jack with its sleek and reflective surfaces called to my imagination and childhood memories. I choose to create stark and simple images that exemplify what a child might see...the complex distilled down to basic truths. There is a natural juxtaposition of the abstract reflected into the representational bringing the surrounding world into the field of vision. This existential dynamic makes the painting process that much more interesting to me.
