The sketches in this show all start as a gesture in the middle of a page, then are drawn--through a free-association process--until some kind of story, predicament or situation results.

The surprise is in the interpretation of expression or gesture; of objects and textures in association with each other; and a different kind of narrative than one arrived at through a linear creative process.

Because there is no intended end in sight before you begin, this journey is far more satisfying than the illustration of an idea an artist thinks up. It becomes an exploration of narrative and visual art language.
