In the silk mill owned by the Klotz Throwing Company, most of the machine operators appear to have been women. They kept a pair of comfy shoes at the mill and many of those remain there.

Many of us do the so-called "urbex" photography but much of it is about "big empty spaces" and that works in it's own way.

My preference is to get closer to the things which people actually used in their life -- a large portion of which was spent at their jobs.

These were filmed at the last standing silk mill in the United States in the largely rural western mountains of Maryland.
